The University of Southern Mississippi Department of Marine Science at the Stennis Space Center is offering a tenure-track position in marine chemistry at the assistant professor level. Applicants must hold a Ph.D. in oceanography or a related field and have demonstrated field and laboratory research experience. Post-doctoral experience is desirable for assistant-level applicants. The successful candidate is expected to conduct an active research program and develop courses for an interdisciplinary academic program for graduate and undergraduate students.

The Yale Earth System Center for Stable Isotopic Studies (http://earth.yale.edu/escsis) is looking to hire a new lab manager to manage the operation and maintenance of a state of the art multi-use isotope center. The manager collaborates with principal investigators and students in method development, sample analyses and data interpretation and also provides input in the form of technical guidance and direction on various phases of isotopic research. Ideally the lab manager would have a master’s degree and 3 years’ experience on mass spectrometers.

Two postdoctoral scholar positions are available for research on ecological aspects of implementing low-energy systems for treating wastewater (including stormwater and urban runoff). Research will include field studies of plant and animal communities associated with natural wetlands performing water quality improvement services and land-based mesocosms studies using native species for water quality improvement. Research goals are to employ biomimicry of wetland plants and animals (and their interactions) in the development of biofilters that enhance re-use of wastewater.

The Ohio Department of Resources Division of Wildlife will begin accepting applications for the Research Coordinator of the Old Woman Creek National Estuarine Research Reserve (OWC NERR) in Huron along Ohio’s Lake Erie shore on Monday, November 26. The application period runs until COB, December 7. The Research Coordinator will have primary responsibility for overseeing and conducting coastal resource research that increases understanding of freshwater estuarine ecosystems and informs their stewardship.

Under the direction of the Upper Coast Regional Director, the Natural Resources Specialist performs duties directly related to the collection, processing and dissemination of acoustic survey data for the conservation, management, restoration and monitoring of oyster habitat and ecosystem-based coastal management. Assists with design, construction and monitoring of oyster habitat restoration/mitigation projects. Provides leadership to staff and program coordination. Assists with data analysis, report and grant writing, and USCOE permit applications.
