Call for Papers: Estuaries & Coasts Special Issue on the Human Dimensions of our Coasts - See Important Due Dates
Estuaries and Coasts – Journal of the Coastal and Estuarine Research Federation Call for Papers for Special Issue on the Human Dimensions of our Coasts
The aim of this Special Issue is to explore the human dimensions side of our coastal environments by looking at the nexus of human activity, environment, and resource management. Various human activities are linked to the condition of estuarine and coastal environments, which in turn affects human well-being through the provision of ecosystem goods and services.
Humans are not separate from the ecosystem but are an integral, and ever more influential part of it. Sustaining the benefits derived from coastal ecosystems requires balancing human dimensions with continued production of these services. These links are clearly demonstrated in our estuarine and coastal environments where human induced reductions in freshwater inflow, increased nutrient enrichment, and residential and commercial development, to name just a few, pressure our natural assets and, ultimately, our well-being.
For this special issue we are seeking papers that address broadly the critical human dimensions and policy issues of our coasts and would appeal to an international audience. Papers that have a multidisciplinary approach are especially welcome.
