Winter 2005 Newsletter
The Atlantic Canada Coastal Estuarine Science Society has the distinction of being one of the newest affiliate societies as well as the first affiliate that is not principally based in the United States. The majority of the society's members live and work in eastern Canada where they study estuaries in the Atlantic Canadian coastal areas. The current President is Mark Hanson; the new vice president is Dr. Simon Courtenay, Research Scientist, Fisheries and Oceans Canada, Gulf Fisheries Centre, Moncton, NB, courtenays@mar.dfo-mpo.gc.ca. Dr. Courtenay's research has centered on the uses that fish make of estuaries and the impacts on these activities of anthropogenic effluents.
