ERF 2007 will be held November 4-8, 2007, in Providence, Rhode Island. As always, the scientific sessions will provide the backbone of the conference and establish the tone and focus for our discussions. We invite each of you to provide ideas for, and volunteer to lead, sessions that will define the current and compelling state of estuarine and coastal science and management.

Proposals for ERF 2007 Scientific Sessions

Our goals are to offer opportunities for you to present the latest science, to question and interact with colleagues on the critical issues within your own discipline, and at the same time to encourage interdisciplinary interaction and stimulate connections between science and management. To achieve this, we aim to have sessions that include both invited and contributed papers, embrace international perspectives, and engage in integrative and thought-provoking synthesis.

We plan to showcase poster presentations as an integral component of sessions. Facilities at the Providence Convention Center are ideally suited to support a diversity of poster presentations and the meeting schedule will be designed to highlight these sessions. Charlie Strobel will be the Poster Chair for ERF 2007; his contact information is listed below.

Proposals for ERF 2007 Workshops

We plan a limited number of workshops on Sunday, November 4th preceding the evening Plenary Session of the conference. These workshops will focus on:

Career Planning;
Communicating Our Science &
Management; and
New and Emerging Tools & Technologie
s.

We are soliciting ideas and leaders for workshops in these three topical areas.

Submission of Ideas for Scientific Sessions or Workshops

Proposals for scientific sessions or workshops should be E-mailed to one of the ERF 2007 Scientific Program Co-Chairs: Jonathan Pennock, Linda Deegan or Charles Roman. Please restrict your proposal submission to one page and include: (1) name of proposer(s); (2) suggested title and brief description of the session or workshop theme; (3) whether the proposal is for a scientific session or a workshop; 4) if the scientific session will be oral, poster or a combination; and (5) a list of identified or potential participants. If you propose a session or workshop, you should be prepared to act as the chair and/or entrain others to help with organizing the session or workshop. The Scientific Pro-gram Co-Chairs will work with you to develop diverse participation and options for an integrated synthesis component to each scientific session.

Proposals for Sessions and Work-shops are due by June 30, 2006; decisions will be made by late summer 2006. Information on the selected proposals will be posted on the ERF website (http://erf.org) and updated information will be available in the ERF Newsletter.
