Vote to Transfer Assets from ERF to CERF 

Dear CERF Members:

The CERF Governing Board and I thank you for your vote in February 2009 to approve the transfer of the assets of what was formerly the Estuarine Research Federation (ERF) to the organization now known as the Coastal and Estuarine Research Federation (CERF).

      Your vote on the assets transfer took CERF another giant leap forward!

      I am happy to report that 37% of CERF members voted in February, and the votes were 100% affirmative to transfer ERF assets to CERF. Thanks to YOUR participation, we easily met the requirement to have a quorum of 5% of the voting-eligible membership approve the asset transfer.

      By mail vote in the summer of 2007, members overwhelmingly approved both the name change from ERF to CERF and the new constitution and bylaws. In the long legal process to date, the Governing Board incorporated the Federation with the new name and constitution. We applied to the US Internal Revenue Service for tax-exempt status for the new corporation, received IRS approval, and are now working on the remaining steps to complete the transition.

      Again, thank you for helping CERF formalize our legal transformation.
