Family Friendliness

CERF 2017 is aiming to be the most family-friendly CERF conference yet. The Attendee Experience Committee is working to make the conference easier to navigate for nursing mothers and others with growing children. Here are a few example of the plans to assist this group of attendees.

  • We will have a special room set up for pumping breast milk with amenities that only a pumping mother can truly appreciate, like a fridge with divided storage, and important supplies.
  • We are planning a "Parents in Science" informal discussion, to talk with your fellow parents about the unique challenges of raising a family while managing your career.
  • We have been in touch with a local daycare that may offer drop-in care, if needed.*

  • Please note: Children and infants are not allowed in any CERF oral sessions or workshops. Exceptions may be made for minor students who are presenting their research at the conference. Children are welcome in the exhibit hall, poster sessions, and receptions (Sunday and Thursday evenings) provided they are accompanied at all times by registered adult attendees. Please keep in mind that alcohol will be served at evening events.
  • If you have any questions or suggestions to improve your experience as a parent at CERF, please contact Sara Grady (sara@nsrwa.org).

* CERF has undertaken reasonable efforts to provide references to appropriate daycare resources; however, parents should conduct proper due diligence in choosing a sitting/daycare service for their children. CERF is providing these references without endorsement, representation or warranty of any kind. Parents shall assume all responsibility for their research and selection of daycare facilities for their children. In no event shall CERF, or its directors, officers, or employees, be held liable for any losses, injury, damages, or any other consequences resulting from, or arising in connection with the use of, or reliance on, these daycare resources.
