CERF Policy Guidelines
The CERF Policy Committee’s Policy Guidelines were approved unanimously by the Governing Board on September 25, 2009. The approval culminates effort begun in 2005 under Bob Christian’s Governing Board and continued under Bob Howarth’s Governing Board. The Guidelines provide a roadmap for CERF to act as a ‘trusted adviser’ in providing scientific expertise from its members.
The guidelines outline how CERF can respond to time-critical issues such as Hurricane Katrina-type natural disasters to strategic ones such as eutrophication and climate change, for which a carefully-considered comprehensive response can be developed. The Policy Guidelines complete one of the strategic goals set out in Visions II. The Policy Committee held a special Town Hall meeting following the Business Meeting at the CERF 2009 conference to roll out the guidelines, receive feedback, and answer questions from members.
